The Ways of GOD are Superior to the Acts of God

In order to buttress the title of the article, let’s take a brief look into the Christian Bible, at a scripture in Psalms 103: 7 which says: “He made his ways known to Moses, and his acts known to the children of Israel”. Although Moses had a lot of access to the ways of GOD, the children of Israel “only” had access to the acts of GOD. There was a big difference between the distinct relationships GOD had with either side; and from that scripture, it can be clearly seen that the ways of GOD are superior to the acts of GOD! Moses, who was closer to GOD than the rest of the Israelites, had an upper hand with the things of GOD than the rest of the Israelites did. To move a bit deeper, we can say that the ways of GOD should be viewed upon as the principles or laws of GOD, i.e. the pattern in which He made creation to work in a truthful, balanced, and awesome manner. If you abide by his ways or principles, then you can have access to his power and become a commander of his acts. Take a look at the ten commandments in order to get a grasp of his ways. Once you obey them, then his powerful acts will be displayed in your life and you’ll naturally be able to bring great and miraculous deeds into physical existence. When you understand His ways (principles) and stand by them, just like Moses did, you will be radiate His powerful acts.

Most people are far away, or actually cut off from the ways of GOD: that’s why they “may” only be able to ride on his acts which are by-products of his ways. Don’t expect GOD’s principles to work wonders for you in one area when you violate them in another area, or areas. For example, it doesn’t matter how much principles of faith you operate by, if you violate the principles of righteousness, truthfulness and respect for your fellow man, your faith will never produce strong results (acts). Irrespective of an individuals faith (i.e. your faith or that of someone spiritually higher than you), if sin is on ground – then all your expectations won’t be completely realized. This is the mystery behind so many unanswered prayers! The second example is in the area of financial prosperity: if you are a good giver “sometimes”, but become negligent “at other times”, then true prosperity may likely elude you. In order for this type of scene not to occur, abide by GOD’s laws or principles so you can have a smooth ride on his ways as you watch the multitude (like the Israelites) stare at the acts.

In order for everything to be put in proper balance, what should you do? Well, make attempts to do the following: (i) Be open to GOD! Search yourself and find out if there are any of GOD’s principles you are violating. If you are sincere and eager, you will find out the exact thing(s) you are suppose to stop doing. And once you are able to find it out, amend it by “stopping it”; (ii) Since we are all human and prone to making mistakes, ask GOD to give you the grace to overcome the hurdles confronting you in the areas where you’re lagging behind. His grace will give you ease! (iii) Always seek GOD’s face; not his hands. Pursue his ways rather than his acts, and you will see more of his acts than you ever thought possible.

It’s Never Too Late With God! Your Best Days Are Still Ahead!

The story of “Laurre the Elliot” who bagged a master’s degree at the age of 90, says a lot about the fact that – where there is a will, there will always be a way – no matter the trials or pains! “Laurre the Elliot” is a proof to many that it’s never too late to fulfil your dreams. She said it was that nagging, “unfilled desire“, that prevented her from never giving up. If you want to do something badly enough – then you will be able to do it. Later on, she welcomed her status as role model and hopes to encourage other elderly people to pursue their long-held aspirations. “I hope I can inspire some of these people to continue their education”, she told WFAA. “That’s my goal”. Madam Elliot who hails from Portsmouth, England, spent 15 months at the University of Sussex for her master’s degree in Russian and Eastern European Studies. She also spent a year at the University of Portsmouth as part of her first degree in Russian Studies. She later planned to get her Ph.D. God can still help you accomplish whatever you desire in your life, and destiny.

One day with God is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are as one day. Spiritually, a Gregorian calendar doesn’t exist. An invincible determination can achieve almost anything, and in this – lies the distinction between great men and common men. In the Bible, we see how God overturned the captivity of Job at his old age. Zechariah and Elizabeth had one of the greatest miracles because they decided to wait on God, despite their old age. If you and your family would do the same, you would be put place of honour in your generation. I remembered several years ago when the wife of a pastor committed suicide by hanging herself at their residence. She hanged herself while the husband was attending a night vigil because since they married, they had no child, and she suspected that the husband was falling into temptation, and having sex and children outside their marriage. Is there anything that God cannot do? If the husband was having an extramarital affair, couldn’t God have intervened?

We must never judge the dead, but if the problem was due to lack of having a child and she was growing older, is the God of Zechariah, Abraham, Sarah and Job dead? No! Your case is no different! It’s never too late! And it’s time to say that – repeatedly – to all forms of negativity staring at you. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporal problem. Note that age is not a barrier to achieving God’s plans for your life! Many people are always blaming circumstances for the cause of where they are in life: however, the people who get along in this world are those who get up and look for the circumstance they want, and if they can’t favourable circumstances, they create them. Reject all forms of regrets! Look unto God. It is never too late with God! Your best days are still ahead!

Your Outcome in Life Is Determined By What You Believe in; Faith or Fact

In Christian Bible, 2nd Corinthians 5:7 says: “For we walk by faith: not by sight”. The literal meaning of the above scripture is that we are meant to live our lives; make progress and carry out actions based on faith – which is the ultimate and unseen reality. Don’t live your life on the basis things which you can only see with your physical eyes. “Faith”, which is the ultimate truth, belongs to the spiritual world; while “facts” are only limited to the physical world which we see with our eyes. Faith is superior to, and stronger than fact! Fact is temporal and changeable but faith (truth) is eternal and unchangeable. Even history has shown that fact can become untrue, without divine or supernatural intervention. For example, it was a fact many years ago that malaria had no cure and many people died because of it; but that is no longer true today.

In the past, it was considered a fact that iron could neither fly nor float: but today, heavy tons of iron (in steel form) are floating and flying from one part of the world to the other in the form of ships and aircrafts – carrying both people and cargo wherever they wish to go to. In the past, there were no drugs for the cure of several diseases, but today there are so many types of drugs. If time can alter fact, how much more will your faith in destroy fact – in an instant! Despise all facts, and rather believe in the truth. Your physical experiences or that of other people should not guide your life’s journey. Believe in the ultimate truth about the supernatural ability that God gave man to turn unfavorable circumstances into favorable ones. Allow your faith and belief to guide you towards your God-given destiny.

The scripture in Romans 10: 17, the Bible says that: “The just shall live by faith”. This faith is based on how God sees ease and solutions to every situation and difficulty in this physical world. The scripture didn’t say that the just shall live by experience, night dreams, personal wisdom, skill or expertise! It said that the just shall live by faith! Many people elevate their experience, personal wisdom and skills above faith, ultimate truth and the power of God – to the extent that they constantly dwell in the realm of frustration and dissatisfaction. We have stated that ultimate truth is superior to fact, and a lot of people know that the real battle of a man lies between fact and truth. What is the difference between them? Well, fact is a natural reality which has evidence only to the physical senses; i.e. you can see, hear, feel, smell or touch it. Faith (or truth) on the other hand, is supernatural or spiritual reality; and is not always obvious to the body’s senses, i.e. – you might not be able to sense faith physically – but it’s real. The fact might be that – based on experience and expertise – there would be no hope, but the truth (faith) says: “launch out your heart with hope” and in many instances where faith was strong – the truth prevailed. Allow the truth to prevail in your life!

God’s Greatness: Within His Books and Everything Around You!

Most of the time, people likely don’t give any thought about God, and his greatness. They are too engrossed in their own activities, good or bad, to a point that they hardly think about the trees, birds, other beautifully created beings and objects created by God. Creation gives a clue to the greatness of God beyond what we can only see. Nowadays (arguably more than at any other time in history), mankind unconsciously and unintentionally takes the back seat when considering the common things of life. This causes them to close their own minds from seeing the greatness of God which is exposed through the simplicity of observing his creatures and his creation. In reality, the follower(s) of any religion (or believers in God), can sense much of God’s greatness by reading the contents of their respective “holy books” or “words of God”. A lot of mysteries and miracles (backed up with historical evidence), can be read and deeply felt from reading and meditating on those words in the holy books. Coupled with reading the words of God — is the intriguing experience of beholding the products of God’s amazing power; i.e. the tangible things you can see, hear and feel around you.

Over the ages, and up till this moment, the words in the “holy books” show a direct signpost from God’s creation — towards his immensely great power. From the time he created the first man, many of his followers (on a different page from those who disbelieve) gained extraordinary insight about God’s mysterious powers of manifesting his thoughts in physical forms. Saint Paul was loud and audible when he said: “since the creation of the world, the hidden characteristics of God have been clearly understood by the things he created around us”. Even stone-hearted disbelievers like Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar (just to name a few people who attempted to exalt themselves above God), were forced to accept God’s sovereignty when the chips went down. At the end of the battle between little Pharaoh and God, Pharaoh lost every important thing he had because he went against God’s order, by keeping the Israelites as slaves in captivity. When the sun set on the battle between tiny Nebuchadnezzar and almighty God, he (Nebuchadnezzar) was changed into another form, and driven away from people to eat grass like an ox.

One of the most touching stories in the Christian Bible, is the one that narrates how God spoke to Job out of a whirlwind; and what he (God) specifically told him (Job). Rather than being sorry and apologetic to Job for the hardship he was going through, God talked to him about the beauty in creation as expressed through various types of animals he (God) created. This story shows God’s own decision to direct and inspire man towards looking at the creative side of life, instead of concentrating on hardship. It seemed like God was indirectly telling Job to view his (God’s) greatness in order to gain the power to wipe away his (Job’s) own tears. Well, at the end of the battle against adversity, all of Job’s tears were wiped away. In truth, the mystery, greatness and splendor of God’s creatures, along with creation, should actually draw us closer to God: they should make us adore him and talk to others about him. Nowadays, you find that that’s not so much the case because a major part of mankind is too fixed on their “own” thing(s); forgetting that God made them as a part of the beautiful, and much bigger creation.

Talent is Only a Starting Point for Success: You’ve Got to Keep Working That Talent!

If you have a unique gift, or an unparalleled talent for doing something, then you’ll definitely be recognized and distinguished from the rest of the flock. In fact that gift of yours could place you on top of other people, and give you a great advantage that might last for a very long time to come. BUT talent is only a starting point in any business: you’ve got to keep working that talent! A song writer, Irving Berlin, understood the truth behind the words in the previous sentence when he said: “The toughest thing about success is that you’ve got to keep on being a success”. After gloriously climbing to the top, and reaching that enviable peak, if you lose focus, and slack, other serious people who are steadfast, would soon fly ahead of you.

One of the greatest writers in recorded history, Stephen Kings, once said: “Talent is cheaper than table salt. A lot of hard work is distinguishes a talented individual from a successful one”. The truth is that if you observe the lifestyle of hardworking people, you will also see a glimpse of hard work in many other aspects of their private life as well. You must have come across certain people who should have risen to the top, but they didn’t; they were in possession of all the talent a man could ever want, but they ended up NOT succeeding. Their talent made them to stand out – but their lack of integrity made them sit on the ground. Meanwhile, the stable integrity within other people (who were once at the bottom of the ladder), made way for them to overtake those at the forefront, and reach the top. The families, mentors, friends and bosses of fallen stars, often see their talent or giftedness but wonder why they keep falling short of expectations. At the starting point, their talent opened up doors for them, but wrong choices and a possible lack of integrity – shut those doors.

If you take time to consider the character and talent of Nehemiah in the Christian Bible, you’ll notice that he rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem’s within two months! It was actually an outstanding feat to achieve in that era of history: read further and notice how Nehemiah’s character and integrity stood out. While many of his peers indulged in fattening their pockets – by lending money at extremely exorbitant rates (which people couldn’t repay), he cautioned them to do the right thing so that the favor of God would come on their nation (read Nehemiah 5: 9). Furthermore, he said: “I did not act that way. I rather devoted myself towards completing the construction of the wall” (Nehemiah 5: 15 – 16). Later on, the character of the greedy merchants was found wanting, and their talent and business lost appeal and success at the same time. If you want to develop an attractive character and maintain success, do what is right, and just, as you keep on working out that talent.

In the Pursuit of Dreams, Along With Spiritual Development …

If we take a look at life from God’s position and perspective, we might be pushed to ask ourselves this big question — why are we here on Earth? What was God’s reason for placing us on Earth? Did we get here accidentally? Or, were we intentionally designed with a specific purpose which is different from what we think? Many people and many religions agree that our reason for being here has a unique purpose. One of the major purposes for being here (on Earth), is to locate your own destiny by consistently striving to find out what you were born to do; and then — go all out to fulfill it. By achieving fulfillment and greatness, we’ll certainly be able to contribute our own quota to the welfare and destiny of mankind; and the world at large. Another major purpose for being here — is to continuously develop spiritually as we travel on our everlasting journey of spirituality.

Unfortunately, the minds of most people tend to lead them astray, and into a direction which doesn’t come from the bowels of their hearts: this distracts them from finding the true purpose of their lives. Most people often think that money, power, success, fame and popularity will create an eternally happy lifestyle for them, and so they vigorously pursue these desires. Other types of people chase these dreams while simultaneously seeking spiritual development: this is the best option because you’ll be using one stone (life on earth) to kill two birds (your dreams, and spiritual development). The pursuit of spiritual development along with enlightenment about our destiny, would give us a peaceful state of mind, and make us feel more relaxed and calm. Our purpose in life is related to a considerable extent — with seeking spiritual enlightenment about God, his ethics and his kingdom. If our spirits are not sufficiently inspired and motivated, we’ll find it difficult to awaken the perception about our life’s purpose. A major key towards realizing spiritual development and enlightenment, is to follow your intuition – your spiritual thinking – your heart. We have to find out our purpose in life, and live it to the fullest – from deep within our souls. Living our life in this manner will imbibe stillness within our minds; and then, we’ll naturally be able to let go of negative emotions, hopelessness, fear, guilt, malice and false beliefs which normally preoccupy the human mind.

If we become successful in making the pursuit of spirituality – a habit, our minds will automatically tune into a greater reality which can help us achieve a stabilized level of spiritual enlightenment and continuous spiritual development. In summary — locate your life’s purpose. If you can succeed in doing so, then you won’t have much to worry about; and you will be contented with everything you have, no matter what position you are in life. Everyone has to learn how to let go of bad memories often associated with the past: don’t harbor them within your minds. In dropping the odds and negatives, our minds will gradually become more still as time passes by. Also, we have to develop a personality that can’t be negatively influenced by the outward (material) changes so often associated with life. In so doing, our minds will become less affected by any change in external situations. Another important thing to do is to rid ourselves of fear(s) associated with a lack of faith. This fear often keeps many people away from moving towards the direction of their destinies. Such negative traits prevent us from believing in God, the spiritual world, and eternity.

True Prosperity Depends on How Well You are Connected With God

Any human being who is genuinely connected with God (the creator of all things), would have ultimate peace and true prosperity. God is spirit! We can’t see him! In fact, his invisibility makes many people feel like he doesn’t exist. But he’s there! Right out there! He’s connected with men and women who also play (or played) their own little part in maintaining that strong connection. Through the ages, God has been close to quite a number of people, too many for us to recall from history; but one important thing to take note of – is that – irrespective of any challenges encountered, irrespective of any attempt(s) that enemies put up against those connected with God, they conquer at the end of the day. Another remarkable quality that people of God have, is that genuine feeling of rest, peace, and sense of fulfillment – which they can’t have otherwise. Their foundation doesn’t rest on material things: on the material aspect of creation. Anything that has a foundation outside of God is just temporal vanity, and would pass away or cease to exist from a particular date in the near future. Whatever anyone has, no matter how small it may appear in the eyes of other people, it would always be sufficient to accomplish every plan that God has called or destined for that person to carry out in this world.

Everything that God gave everyone at birth, and while they are alive, is a seed which has to be sown, fertilized, continuously catered for, and groomed to maturity. We must prosper if we have the mind-set that – with what we were given – we can efficiently accomplish God’s purpose for our lives. Plant your seed and it must produce a bountiful harvest, good or bad. True prosperity and abundance are beyond the acquisition of material possessions: it isn’t defined by the number of cars, industries, houses, lands, assets, women, or property that anyone has; otherwise those who have the largest amount of material possessions in the world, would always be the most happy, joyful and fulfilled people. Unfortunately, most materially successful personalities haven’t been so happy, neither have they felt inwardly fulfilled in their lives.

Read through history and you will observe that a lot of popular people, with an abundance of “earthly possessions,” have had high blood pressures, gone nuts, or even committed extreme acts like suicide! Many of them have been dependent on drugs in order to try and control their minds and feelings. These few descriptions show that man cannot depend solely on what he externally possesses – if he wants to have real joy and livelihood! Many people who have/had great possessions, were really empty on the inside; if not they wouldn’t resort to empty remedies like drugs and suicide. The treasures of this world all have their expiry dates. And really, not all that glitters is gold. There are many men and women who have been frustrated in life because they measured themselves by the world’s symbols of prosperity. In all your prosperity, or lack of it, let your total dependence be on God, then you’ll have everlasting treasures that no amount of money can buy.
